If your water heater has one or two AC heating elements one of these 48 volt DC could potentially be screwed into replace one or both AC heating elements. Whether the element is turned on is controlled by the temperature sensitive switch on the water heater. The switch doesn’t care if it’s 220 volts, 110 volts or 48 volts passing through it, the most important is that the switch can handle the amps. You cannot exceed the amp rating of the switch.
